Sherlock Holmes
If you managed to spend your Christmas weekend away from nine-foot-tall blue aliens and instead with the world’s most famous sleuth, you’d know that the late-blooming, scene-stealing, best romance of 2009 came from Guy Ritchie’s “Sherlock Holmes.” And no, Rachel McAdams is surprisingly not a part of that equation.
Sherlock Holmes, Robert Downey Jr. , Jude Law
Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law hit pitch-perfect chemistry as the title Sherlock Holmes and his partner, Watson. And while in the movie Sherlock is definitely the girl in the relationship (Those temper tantrums! That manipulation!), MTV News had to ask the actors themselves who they thought would be donning the dress of the two men.
“It’s right out of the books. It’s completely about the relationship,” Robert said, dodging the question. When MTV called him out on it, he replied with a laugh, “Yeah, because then that’s labeling us: who’s the top? Who’s the bottom? And we don’t want anything like that.”
Jude added, “The great thing about the partnership, and about the heart of the film — as Robert said — is these two characters are very much two parts of the same piece. They kind of pick each other up where the other falls, and, as indeed any healthy schizophrenic will tell you, that can drive oneself mad.
Sounds like a healthy relationship to us. Turns out Robert and Jude worked just as well together on set as Sherlock and Watson did in the film, but without all the faux animosity.
“There was days where I would be exhausted and Jude would lead the charge and try to infuse it with a bit of fun or whatever,” Robert said. “Other times, he’d been rehearsing ‘Hamlet’ and we’d been off shooting some other stuff and he’d come in and say, ‘Where’s the rhythm at now?’ and we were always kind of picking up each others’ slack and driving each other to become this third thing which is Holmes and Watson.” (http://hollywoodcrush.mtv.com/)
