Halloween Costumes to Make at Home
I made Halloween costumes for my kids when they were young. Halloween costumes you can make at home don’t have to be expensive or complicated. Here are some ideas for little ones that are always a hit:
My son was a chipmunk one year because of a favorite book of his. I used zip up the front, one-piece cozy brown feet pajamas and added a busy tail and little ears from brown felt. I drew whiskers and a little nose and he was happy as can be.

I’ve seen a variation of this as a lion with felt fringed around the face for the mane and a corded tail with fringe on the end.

Cowboy and cowgirl costumes are fun and easy. Dress them in jeans, a flannel shirt, a bandana around their necks, cowboy belt with cap gun and they are ready to go. If they have little cowboy or cowgirl boots and a sheriff star that’s fun to add.
One year my daughter wanted to be a mummy. We took an old white sheet and ripped it into long narrow pieces. We wrapped her up, leaving room around her face and used some white face paint. She loved that one!
Another year my daughter was a ladybug. She wore black tights, a black hair band with pipe cleaner antennas, a big oversized red sweat shirt that I glued back felt circles on and we added a few back dots to her face for fun.
