J.D. Salinger, the legendary author, youth hero and fugitive from fame whose “The Catcher in the Rye” shocked and inspired a world he increasingly shunned, has died. He was 91.

Salinger died of natural causes at his home on Wednesday, the author’s son, actor Matt Salinger, said in a statement from Salinger’s longtime literary representative, Harold Ober Associates, Inc. He had lived for decades in self-imposed isolation in a small, remote house in Cornish, N.H.

Derrick Dooley. Vince Dooley Son Derrick Will Coach Tennessee – Louisiana Tech Football coach Derek Dooley, son of the legendary coach Vince Dooley, has been hired as Tennessee’s new coach sources close to the situation told ESPN on Friday.

Contacted by the AJC earlier in the day, Vince Dooley, who was at meeting on St. Simons Island, sounded surprised at reports that his sone was now the leading candidate at Tennessee.

Francene Cucinello. WHAS-AM morning talk show host Francene Cucinello died Friday after suffering a brain aneurysm earlier in the week.

According to WHAS-AM’s Web site, www.84whas.com, Cucinello, 43, suffered a heart attack Monday, followed by the aneurysm Wednesday. She died at 3:15 p.m. Friday at Norton Hospital.
